Selected Fir hand-spined shafts with a spine groups of 5 pounds tolerance in hemlock & douglas.

Wood descriptions:
HEMLOCK: slightly lighter than the cedar, the hemlock has got a light brown duramen (heartwood), with late wood reddish purple stripes, which produce a ring figure on the sawn surfaces. The wood fibre is straight, thin and very uniform. It is not resinous and it appears polished and clean. It is usually used in internal and external building construction, thanks to its durable stability and weatherthingt resistance.

DOUGLAS: with quite the same specific weight of the cedar, the Douglas has got a reddish-brown duramen and a light and differentiated alburnum (sapwood). The wood grain is straight and sometimes wavy with a medium and uniform weaving. Thanks to its excellent durability, it is usually used outside for the construction of doors and windows. Its stability is very durable.
