DRAKE Traditional Horse Bow - Various Designs
The horse bow was developed in Asia. The best-known archers are the Huns and Mongols, who have used this prototype of bow manufactured over centuries. The horse bows were, as the name suggests, designed and made to perfect for shooting from horses. After all, when riding on horseback, space is limited or the mounted warrior had to remain agile in order to survive or to hunt successfully. Following these requirements, the horse bow is very short compared to the long and recurve bow and still has a long draw length.
But also other peoples worldwide developed horse bows, which did not differ in the basic functionality but still represented their own variants. In Europe, it is probably the Magyars (Hungarians) who enjoy an excellent reputation as horsemen, archers and bow makers who, in turn, shaped the horse bow themselves
While the original horse bows were made of wood, horn and strings, modern, cheaper bows are made of materials such as fibreglass and leather.
DRAKE's traditional horse bow is one of these modern horse bows. Made of pressed fibreglass, it convinces with a soft length up to a well noticeable, maximum draw length of 28". But its appearance is also attractive: depending on the variant, it is covered with soft leather in an extravagant snake look in black, brown or red or in a leopard look. The handle area is covered with different coloured leather and optically set off by windings with thick thread. The specially shaped limbs are made of wood and give the horse bows that special something.
The horse bow is suitable for children, teenagers and adults with a short draw length and can, of course, also be used without a horse.
